Meditation is a powerful tool for calming the mind and the body. Here is a guided meditation to help you do just that! I believe that prenatal meditation is an excellent way to connect with baby. It’s a great way to cultivate intention and “give space” to your emotional relationship well before baby has arrived. Creating a routine practice of mediation can be utilized well after baby is born and provides an excellent model for your child potentially propelling them into their own meditation practice.
MEDITATION SCRIPT:
Hello, I’m Lena Gonzalez Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Prenatal Massage Therapist. Today, I will be leading you on a guided meditation for the first trimester of pregnancy inspired by the book Meditations for Pregnancy by Michelle Leclaire O’Neil.
In these mediations I will use a short acronym, “LO” which means little one. To begin, please turn off your phone, dim the lights, take off your shoes and get comfortable and do whatever it takes for you to get comfortable.
Find a place where you can either sit or lie down free from distraction, where you can be alone with your thoughts and free from anxiety.
Now lie or sit down in a comfortable position and take three deep breaths. inhale deeply through the nose and exhale through the mouth releasing tension as you do. Inhale through the nose and exhale through your mouth getting deeper into a relaxed state, and take one last inhale through your nose and exhale through mouth feeling completely relaxed.
Now I want you to imagine there is a white light above your head. This white light is coming from the heavens and is here to bring peace and enlightenment wherever it goes. Imagine the light traveling through your body from the top of your head at the crown chakra down into your throat, bringing contentment and relaxation. The white light travels down from your throat into your heart bringing love and peace, down into your uterus through the umbilical cord, and into the baby filling up space with love and security. The white light then flows into sacrum bringing balance and continues to flow through your body, into your root chakra grounding you to earth and a life of happiness and contentment together.
Place your hand on your belly and imagine your baby with your mind’s eye. Your little one is forming their backbone and even have some vertebrae. The lens of the eyelids are apparent and lo has a tail which is a primal memory of our ancestry. You understand that your body knows how to care and nourish your little one so lo may continue to grow. The baby’s arms and legs are starting to form and the lo’s brain is developing, with this knowledge send your baby nurturing loving thoughts. Imagine your arms wrapped around lo developing a connection between the two of you and providing your little one protection. Take a moment to imagine giving kisses to those fingers and toes now developing. Imagine the moment when you first meet, see how your little one will look at you and connect knowing the sound of your voice. Send lo all your love.
Now thank your baby for giving you a glimpse into their developing life. Leave your baby to their work and tell your little one you love them and that you are always here, connected offering protection. Slowly take a few deep breathes, one deep breath you feel your body’s cells, and exhale, take another deep breath and you feel your body’s walls, and exhale, take another deep breath and you feel your own arms and legs and exhale, and the last deep breath you open your eyes and feel apart of the world around you, bringing yourself back into the conscious state.
Hope you enjoyed our meditation and come back again for more pregnancy mediations and affirmations. Don’t forget to take your prenatal vitamins, and be sure to eat plenty of protein and green vegetables.
